About Us

Our Journey

The words themselves evoke a sense of journey; journey toward a beautiful destination.  We named this resource VistaQuest to capture the essence of the personal mysterious path that stretches before a child with Cortical/cerebral visual impairment (CVI), a path leading to a vista of hope and a fulfilled future.  As with any personal quest, each journey is unique and requires the determination of those who walk alongside that child. VistaQuest is here to provide support, through use of our BaseKit and future tools, for those parents and teachers who believe in each child’s potential.

Meet Kristin

Founder

Kristin Gault, MA, M.Ed, CVI Range Endorsed Professional, has been a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Springfield, Oregon since 2010. As a parent to two awesome sons with visual impairment and one awesome daughter,  Kristin’s special training in cortical visual impairment (CVI), providing assessments, interventions and strategies to students with CVI throughout Lane County comes from a personal understanding of the challenges facing each TVI teaching team. Beyond her TVI role, Kristin is a member of the statewide Oregon CVI Team and offers CVI training outside her teaching district. Kristin’s hands-on experience and research inspired her to create VistaQuest and it’s intervention tool, the BaseKit.

Kristin is a compassionate and dedicated professional. She works collaboratively with families and school teams to ensure the best outcomes for students. She is a creative problem solver who isn’t afraid to take on challenges and learn new things. I love working with her and seeing the compassion she has for our students and their families.

Rae, Classroom Teacher

“With Kristin’s expertise we have learned that vision is not passive. It is hard work. Visual fatigue is a very real thing for our daughter, particularly if we are asking her to look at and recognize something while she is working on another skill that is difficult for her.”

Lauren, Mom

“Hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something is worth doing no matter how it turns out.”
